The Pender Quilters was started in 2003 for quilters in the Pender area.
The group meets September through May, the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at House Memorial Library in Pender. We learn from demonstrations given by members. We share projects that we are working on or have finished. There is an exchange of ideas for new quilts and tips for better techniques.
Members have completed lap quilts for Pender Care Centre and quilts for Pender Community Hospital and charities. The group undertook the challenge of sewing a quilt top for the Pender Q125 that was machined quilted by Lela Heineman. Profits from the raffle will benefit the Q125 fund. A quilt show is planned for the Q125 celebration.
Members of the group are Karen Hamm, Vivian Hartwig, Lela Heineman, Betty Copple-Jasa, Patrice Maise, Donna Malmberg, Connie Miller, Marguerite Roberts, Marilyn Swanson, Jenny Tyrrell and Evelyn Webster, all of Pender, and Patricia Kelly of Thurston.
