The Pender Betterment Group is planning a special event to raise money for the Q125 later this month, and it’s right up Husker football fans’ alley.
The Nebraska vs. Colorado football game, which is held annually the day after Thanksgiving Nov. 27 and broadcast nationally on ABC, will be projected in high definition on a giant 192-inch screen at Pender Legion Hall.
And if watching the Huskers play on a 16-foot diagonally measured screen isn’t enough, the menu just might be.
Fans will get the chance to eat authentic buffalo in honor of Colorado’s mascot Ralphie in the form of roast sandwiches.
Doors to the legion hall open at 1:30 p.m., with kick-off at 2:30 p.m. Fans are welcome to bring their own bag chairs for their comfort. Regular folding chairs will also be on hand.
A couch that will be positioned at the front of the room will be “sold” to the highest bidder to use during the game.
Cost for the game and the buffalo meal is $7 at the door.
A dance will also be held starting at 7 p.m. with DJ Gavin Gralheer. The cost for that is $5 per person. A cash bar will be available throughout the day’s activities.
According to event organizers, the day is designed as a fun way to raise money for the Q125 and also provide area residents and those home for Thanksgiving something to do.
All proceeds will be donated to the Q125 committee.
