Two new faces are now greeting patients at Herman Chiropractic in Wayne and Pender.
Dr. Sarah Peterson, DC, joined the staff in December and was recently joined by her husband, Dr. Tyler Peterson, DC. The Petersons join Dr. Joelle Herman, DC in providing chiropractic services to patients in both the Wayne and Pender areas.
Sarah Peterson, who is originally from Dakota City, graduated from South Sioux City High School and earned a degree in biology from Wayne State College in 2013. She then attended Cleveland University-Kansas City. After her graduation in December of 2016, she moved to Wayne and began seeing patients.
“I like to treat all patients – from babies to teenagers to older people,” Sarah said.
She said her decision to pursue a career in chiropractic care began after watching her mother struggle with health issues that medical doctors could not resolve.
“The chiropractors were the only doctors that could help my mother. I went to appointments with her and saw what they did. I decided I wanted to help people without using drugs,” Sarah said.
She said that she and her husband went through high school and college together and were married in 2013 before she began chiropractic school.
“Being in Wayne has brought us closer to family. The fact that, while I was in college, I worked as an assistant with Dr. Herman allowed me to form a relationship with her as well as learn about the other side of the business,” Sarah said.
In her spare time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, being outside, spending time with her dog and visiting her parents.
“I also enjoy wearing colorful clothing,” she added with a smile.
Tyler Peterson grew up in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School. After attending Wayne State College for three years, he transferred to Cleveland University where he earned his bachelor’s degree and, on April 14 of this year, his degree in chiropractic care.
He began practicing at Herman Chiropractic just recently and said that while he enjoys all areas of the practice, he especially enjoys sports rehabilitation chiropractic. His interest in chiropractic also began with the care received by his mother after a serious injury.
“Also, when I was in high school, I was involved in basketball and golf, and any time I had an injury, the chiropractor was able to fix it,” Tyler said.
In his spare time, Tyler enjoys exercising, especially lifting weights, golfing and cooking/grilling.
“Our welcome to Wayne has been awesome. Everyone has been so welcoming. We like to get out and meet people, especially at the college,” Sarah said.
“I am enjoying getting to meet patients and hear their stories on how chiropractic has impacted their lives. It is rewarding to be able to help people,” Tyler said.
“We are excited to add Dr. Sarah and Dr. Tyler Peterson to our clinic. They are both dedicated to improving health through chiropractic care and look forward to becoming a part of the Wayne community,” said Dr. Herman.
With the addition of the new chiropractors, Herman Chiropractic will be able to expand the number of hours they will be seeing patients in the Pender office.
The community is invited to come meet the two new doctors during a Chamber Coffee hosted by Herman Chiropractic on Friday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in Wayne.
