One of the biggest events to hit the new Pender Community Center in its first year is coming up on Saturday, April 7.
The Pender Summer Rec program is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year with a multi-faceted event that will be going on all day at the center.
It begins with a dodgeball tournament that features multiple age divisions, including an adult tournament. A Midwest Barbecue Association sanctioned contest is also being held with nearly 25 teams coming from far and wide to compete.
Later in the day, the food that is cooked for the contest will be available for purchase at the event center from 5-7 p.m.
At 9 p.m., live music including popular regional band “Street Legal” will perform an 18-and-over show. An ID is necessary to gain entrance and to purchase alcohol, which will also be available during the adult portion of the dodgeball tournament.
