Tim Vogt, 79
Tim Vogt, 79, of Overland Park, Kan., died Thursday, April 6, 2017 after a few years of battling Alzheimer’s.
A memorial service and visitation were held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Overland Park Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Brookdale Hospital or the Presbyterian church.
Tim was born on November 12, 1937 to Max and Lena Vogt.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; children Dianne, Jeff (Michelle), Torri (Dave Gross) and Pam (Scott Shandy); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Timmy.
Luella Mutz, 93
Luella S. Mutz, 93, formerly of Pender, died Friday, March 17, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Sioux City, Iowa.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Pender. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Faith United Presbyterian Church in Sioux City, Iowa (formerly the Morningside Presbyterian Church). In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made to the Alzheimer units at Sunrise Community in Morningside in Luella’s memory. Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Luella S. Hansen, daughter of Henry and Elsie (Smith) Hansen, was born January 8, 1924, on the family farm in Waterbury. The eldest of four children, she graduated from Thurston High School and went on to receive her teaching degree. Luella taught country school for the next two years.
On December 15, 1944, Luella married Ervin V. Mutz of Thurston, and they lived on the Mutz farm in Pender. They enjoyed over 50 years of marriage until Ervin’s death on December 19, 1995.
During her many years as a mother and homemaker, Luella enjoyed gardening and watching cardinals come to her feeder. Her hobbies included painting ceramics, cooking and baking and traveling the world. She enjoyed volunteering with the church, the soup kitchen and at Sunrise Manor where she regularly helped as a receptionist at the front desk.
Luella is survived by four sons, Ronald (Blanca) Mutz of Venice, Fla., Keith (Ann) Mutz of Windsor, Colo., Roger (Nancy) Mutz of Littleton, Colo., and Les (Elizabeth Bishop) Mutz of Vernon Hills, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin and her three siblings, Leona Mae “Lee” Kelly, Milton Hansen and Caroline Fellows.
