After receiving complaints from several citizens over last year's Fourth of July holiday, the South Sioux City City Council is considering limiting the days and times that fireworks can be set off in city limits.
Currently, there are no restrictions on when fireworks can be set off, but they are subject to noise ordinance violations, said police chief Ed Mahon.
Any ordinance that the city council might put into place would not go into effect until next year because firework permits have already been purchased for this year.
The council debated several options for days and times that fireworks would be allowed, but all enveloped the Fourth of July and New Year's Eve holidays.
The council will continue the discussion at their next meeting on May 14.
